The Blackpool and District Association of Mark Lodges

Thirty-Ninth Annual Festival

23rd April 2009

The Festival was hosted this year by The Fylde Lodge of Mark Master Masons No 296 in the presence of the Right Worshipful Provincial Grand Master who was accompanied by the Deputy Provincial Grand Master, both Assistant Provincial Grand Masters, the Provincial Grand Secretary and the Provincial Wardens along with many other distinguished Grand and Provincial Grand Lodge Officers. The event was jointly organised by W.Bro David Bell and W.Bro Bill Ainsworth.

The great success of the Festival over recent years was once again evident as over one hundred Mark and Craft Masons were present to enjoy the presentation by members of the Lodge entitled

“ The Ark and the Flood ”

The presentation related to the legend of Noah as depicted in the ceremony in a Royal Ark Mariner Lodge. The story of the building of Noah’s Ark, and the deluge which followed, unfolded in a dramatic style, featuring sound and light with many visual and other effects. The flying dove, which Noah sent out of the Ark after the flood, was the star of the show, performing to great applause and, at the end of the presentation, all the Brethren joining in singing a rousing “Finale Ode.”

The very convivial festive Board, which followed the presentation, was enjoyed by nearly one hundred Brethren and it was pleasing to see over a dozen Craft Masons able to join in the Festival with their Mark Mason hosts. V.W.Bro. Danny Jones proposed a toast to the Blackpool and District Association of Mark Lodges and congratulated The Fylde Lodge of Mark Master Masons No 296  for providing an evening of original and enjoyable Masonic entertainment.

Responding to the toast to The Blackpool and District Association of Mark Lodges proposed by V.W.Bro. Danny Jones, Assistant Provincial Grand Master, the Secretary of The Association, V.W.Bro. Kevan Beardmore invited Imperial Mark Lodge to host the event for 2010, the Fortieth Festival, which will coincide with the Centenary of The Province. Worshipful Brother Peter Weller of Imperial Mark Lodge was pleased to accept the invitation on behalf of the Brethren of his Lodge and we look forward to yet another successful evening in the Spring of 2010.
